Sex hormones, autoimmune diseases, and immune responses.

چکیده
syndrome lies in some micro-organism as yet undiscovered. After all, Legionella pneumophila, Borrelia burgdorferi, and Helicobacter pylon were unknown pathogens 15 years ago. The urethral syndrome is common and distressing and causes much unhappiness. It inevitably results in the overuse of antibiotics and proliferation of bacteria resistant to antibiotics. It deserves more thorough investigation than it has received in the past.

Sex hormones and the immune response in humans.
In addition to their effects on sexual differentiation and reproduction, sex hormones appear to influence the immune system. This results in a sexual dimorphism in the immune response in humans: for instance, females produce more vigorous cellular and more vigorous humoral immune reactions, are more resistant to certain infections, and suffer a higher incidence of autoimmune diseases. Disease e...
متن کاملThe Immune System Is a Natural Target for Estrogen Action: Opposing Effects of Estrogen in Two Prototypical Autoimmune Diseases
Analogous to other physiological systems, the immune system also demonstrates remarkable sex differences. Although the reasons for sex differences in immune responses are not precisely understood, it potentially involves differences in sex hormones (estrogens, androgens, and differential sex hormone receptor-mediated events), X-chromosomes, microbiome, epigenetics among others. Overall, females...
متن کاملSex hormones, glucocorticoids and autoimmunity: facts and hypotheses.
Increasing knowledge on the regulation of immune responses over the past decade has made it clear that the immune system is involved in complex interactions with most, if not all, of the biological systems responsible for normal homeostasis. The evidence for important interplays between the immune and endocrine systems has launched the whole new field of neuroimmunoendocrinology which has attra...
متن کاملInvestigation of FcγRIIA and FcγRIIIA Polymorphism in Multiple Sclerosis: A Case Control Study
Background: Multiple Sclerosis (MS), the most common demyelinating disease of the CNS, is immunologically mediated in genetically susceptible individuals. Receptors for the Fc fragment of IgG (FcγR) might induce inflammatory responses through linking the humoral and cellular immune responses by targeting immune complexes to effector cells. Polymorphisms in some FcγR genes are associated with va...
متن کاملDivergent impact of gender in advancement of liver injuries, diseases, and carcinogenesis.
Several investigations have revealed that liver diseases exhibit gender biases, but identifying the root causes of such biases has been challenging. Evidence of gender differences in liver function is present from the early stage of embryonic development. The differences in access to care and treatment as well as diagnostic deliberation may affect gender-specific differences in liver disease pr...
